The goal of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) is to improve social, emotional and behavioral outcomes for all students, including students with disabilities and students from underrepresented groups. To help us create a school environment to promote PBIS, we are also utilizing a new program to help students develop the characteristics of successful individuals.  

The PBIS slogan for JKES is Cardinals SOAR. It stands for: Safety, Outstanding Effort, Accountability and Respect.

To promote PBIS and SOAR, teachers, staff members and students will participate in rewarding activities to create a culture of positive behaviors and interactions. In classrooms across the school, students will be rewarded for SOARing at JKES by earning SOAR points. Classroom teachers and grade level teams will work with students to set goals and rewards for achieving their goals. School-wide initiatives, incentives, and activities will also be used to support the development of a school-wide PBIS culture.
